Antique furniture with baroque-style mirror from the 1890s/1910s
A unique and rare piece of Portuguese antique furniture, handcrafted between the late 19th and early 20th century. This sculptural console mirror is made entirely of solid chestnut wood, featuring intricate, hand-carved baroque detailing. The tall, full-length mirror is framed by an undulating silhouette with lavish ornamental motifs, crowned by a crest of volutes and acanthus leaves. The black matte finish is elegantly contrasted with hand-applied antique gold highlights, enhancing its elaborate contours.
The lower console includes a central drawer adorned with the original hardware and refined carvings that extend to the cabriole-style legs. Its imposing presence makes it ideal for both classical interiors and modern spaces seeking a statement piece with historical depth.
The piece underwent an extensive and respectful restoration, involving over 180 hours of professional work. It was completely dismantled, stripped of accumulated wax, and meticulously sanded by hand. The final finish includes layered matte black paint and delicately hand-gilded details. All original joinery and hardware were preserved, ensuring both authenticity and renewed durability.
An exceptional collector’s item that seamlessly bridges heritage and contemporary elegance, perfect for those who appreciate timeless design and craftsmanship.
