"Since 1951. Altamira was founded by students from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. The Project was created to produce quality contemporary furniture with an important incorporation of design. In a philosophy of replacing artisanal production with industrial production, it intends to expand the access of this type of products to a wider range of people. Since the beginning, he has always worked with important names in Architecture and Design, within the scope of the vision and training of its Founders. The brand and logo show the interaction with Art. The choice of the name for the brand was inspired by the famous Altamira Cave. The figure of the Bison that constitutes the logo is inspired by the polychrome paintings of the Family of Bisons on the Great Ceiling of the Great Room of the Cave of Altamira. Déchelette called it the ""Sistine Chapel of Quaternary Art."
