Inspired by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni’s idea of removing the traditional cushions to leave only the “strictly necessary” curves for optimum support, the Sanluca armchair is an extraordinary example of Italian design at its peak. Ergonomic and still a reference to the Poltrona Frau, the Sanluca has an extremely comfortable double profile, with great formal power, which seems to perfectly envelop the body.
Description
Renzo Frau founded Poltrona Frau in Turin in 1912. By the 1930s, it was already a status symbol. From 1926 he was appointed supplier to the Italian royal family, the Savoia dynasty. From then on, it would supply all the most important houses, large hotels, the interiors for Expo Turin 1928 and the luxurious Rex ocean liner, pride of the Italian Navy.
