  • Chaise longue FAVENTIA by Josep Lluscà for Oken in 1991. ‘After confirming that the chaise longue had evolved very little since its inception, we undertook an exercise that would not simply be limited to the inescapable expression of form, but would contribute innovative solutions in functional aspects, in a relationship with other pieces of contemporary furniture and their construction for later commercialisation.’ Due to the reduced proportions of modern homes, FAVENTIA had to be able to replace the traditional sofa. The proposal in this regard is for a chaise longue that can be easily and quickly converted into a three-seater sofa by means of a gas cylinder and sliding roller system used to recline the backrest whenever necessary. Functionally, in addition to the backrest's adjustable reclining function, the chaise longue follows the design lines. In other words, this means that it provides comfort through carefully designed curves and sloping surfaces, which are complemented by calculated firmness in the foam filling. Taking all these aspects into account, a very up-to-date piece of furniture was obtained that responds to what until now we had expected separately from a sofa, a recliner and a chaise longue. Technically, FAVENTIA consists of an internal steel frame, flexible moulded polyurethane foam, fabric upholstery, sliding chrome rollers and a solid wood base plate with non-slip floor covers at the base. The hinge mechanism between the seat and backrest, adjusted by a hidden gas cylinder, is operated manually. The simple assembly of the main parts facilitates assembly, transport and storage in general, and was designed to ensure more rationalised mass production and marketing. The chaise longue was named FAVENTIA because it was part of the name used by the ancient Romans to refer to Barcelona. Produced by Oken.es, it was awarded the European Design Award 1997 in 1991 Year of production Awards: ID Award in Furniture, 1993, ID Magazine Annual Design Review in New York, EU We deliver worldwide. Ergonomic and still a reference to the Poltrona Frau, the Sanluca has an extremely comfortable double profile, with great formal power, which seems to perfectly envelop the body.
